History
The Lake Isle Lutheran Camp Association is composed of Lutheran Christians from various communities throughout Alberta. The Association was formed in 1960 when a group of concerned Lutheran laymen from Edmonton and vicinity took advantage of the opportunity to purchase a tract of land which constitutes the present site of Camp Koinonia.
The main purpose and underlying principle of Camp Koinonia has been Christian growth and recreation.
The Camp has developed along two major lines. The first of these is the resident community, who have permanent lake side cottages. The second is the establishment of a year-round Retreat Centre (Pavilion) which is made available to church groups and other organizations.
Camp Koinonia is located in an area very conducive to both growth and renewal, approximately 100 kilometers (65 miles) west of Edmonton on the north shore of Lake Isle.
The Lutheran Camp Association make its facilities available to a wide range of groups for their retreats, camps, and conferences. The winterized Pavilion makes it possible for our Association to extend an invitation to you - your congregation or group - to consider Lake Isle as a possible retreat site.
